Semi-educational and organically funny, “Well, I Laughed” is a podcast for listeners who find themselves in search of a good laugh and their next strange story to tell at parties. Each week one of our hosts shares what they have learned on topics ranging from the Unabomber to Frankenstein. Join Grant, a public school teacher, and Maia, an engineer, as they find the humor in the mundane. Well, I Laughed, and we think you will too. New episodes every Wednesday.

MEET YOUR HOSTS
Grant Thomas
Grant survived growing up in Nebraska to accomplish every Midwest kid’s dream - moving away after paying in-state tuition for college. After a year in California, he landed in Denver in the summer of 2016. He is a public school teacher, and has grown accustomed to a semi-willing audience.
Recently (and proudly) 30, Grant lives on Denver’s westside. Famously pet averse and fortunately single, he parents several plants. He hikes, hosts dinner parties, and once met Dave Franco. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Education in 2015. 6 feet tall if it matters…
Maia Warner
Maia is originally from the suburbs of Denver, CO and will take any and every opportunity to remind everyone that she is a rare “Colorado Born and Raised” 🙄. Having ADHD and a love of having approximate knowledge of many things as led her into many serendipitous adventures - starting this podcast being one of them. If you’ve ever gone down an internet search rabbit hole, you’ll love the stories she shares.
Outside of the podcast (because once you have a podcast it becomes your whole personality, right?) she lives with her fiancé, Casey, and two dogs, Monet and Bowser. She has a BS in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering and works as a Project Engineer for an Engineering Consulting firm (don't ask her what she does for work - she still doesn't know how to define "consultant").
Stories from the Reddit AITA page. For Valentine's day we cover terrible dates. Being too honest with your friend about their dating expectations. Reacting to sudden hostility while grabbing drinks. And telling your friend they’re wrong, even when pressured not to. Four Reddit stories about dating, and terrible dating experiences.
Buckle up for the grand finale of “Plenty of Fish,” where Maia and Grant juggle skittish dogs, star‑struck cousins, and the most unhinged dating stories Reddit can offer. Broadcasting from a friend’s couch (wine in hand), they swap Valentine’s wisdom, sign a dubious half‑marathon pact, and update us on Grant’s ongoing “candy‑thief” whodunit. Then it’s straight into four AITA bombshells: a friend who weaponizes dating statistics, a boyfriend who melts down over birth‑control, a first‑date tantrum about condoms, and a “poly” guy who forgets to mention he’s, well, poly until the STDs show up. Along the way you’ll hear cookie‑price economics, bro‑code takedowns, and a tease of Maia’s next theme (will it be Explosive Competition, Epic Rivalries, or Way Over the Top?). It’s equal parts comedy, cringe, and hard‑won advice, perfect for anyone navigating modern love with a side of chaos.

Do aliens exist? Or are we alone in the universe? In this week’s podcast episode we explore Fermi's Paradox. Maia covers topics like the “great filter theory”, the day a UFO sighting stopped a football game with Ardico Magnini, the “coso artifact”, and the US Congressional Hearing on UFO sightings and the testimony of Retired Maj. David Grusch. An episode that addresses the question, if there are supposed to be plenty fish in our galaxy… where are they?

With their signature blend of humor and curiosity, they uncover the hidden magic in mundane moments—proving that even the weirdest days are packed with unexpected lessons, historical rabbit holes, and plenty of reasons to laugh along the way.

00:00:00 Catch-Up 00:28:01 Dorm Life Realities 00:32:15 Navigating Awkward Social Situations 00:48:20 The Quirks of Domestic Life 00:52:34 Understanding Legal Oddities 01:04:22 Cultural Differences in Food
In today's podcast episode, Grant covers some Civil War history. Specifically, the life and legend of John Brown. Abolitionist, hero, domestic terrorist? Depends on who you ask. Also covered is the conflict known as “Bleeding Kansas”, the raid on Harpers Ferry, and the work of important abolitionists like Fredrick Douglass and Gerrit Smith.
It’s a frosty catch-up session that leads us straight into 1800s American history—specifically the life (and wild times) of John Brown. First, Grant and Maia share comedic chaos about frigid weather, too many soups, and a mysterious “candy heist” at a recent speech tournament. Then we dive deep into abolitionist John Brown: his devout Calvinist upbringing, his many children with two wives, his infamous raids in “Bleeding Kansas,” and the final showdown at Harpers Ferry that locked in his legacy. Along the way, they explore Brown’s unwavering religious convictions, his willingness to embrace violence to end slavery, and how that turned him into both a historical legend and a polarizing figure.
